Billy Brown had a vision. In his 35-year career as an oil and gas executive he has built and sold several companies but his passions are golf and hunting. He has spent many an hour on the course, in a cold duck blind or early morning hunt enjoying nature and entertaining clients.
He had always dreamed of developing a hunting ranch and lodge to entertain clients and friends and in 2010 purchased 1,300 spectacular wooded and rolling acres a short distance from Columbus, Texas. He immediately went about making it a hunting destination of a lifetime.
Brown had to come up with a name for this ranch. He wanted the name to not only reflect his South Louisiana roots and the Cajun culture but also the enjoyable experience he wanted for his ranch guests. Thus, he named his dream the Big Easy Ranch.
His vision was to make Big Easy the preeminent whitetail deer experience anywhere and went about acquiring the best genetics from South Texas. Also, he added exotic, upland bird and wetlands hunting and bass and rainbow trout fishing. Now, more than five years later his dream has become a reality and his dream is now available to a select few members.
Additionally, his passion for golf and the beautiful terrain of the ranch inspired him to develop a 9-hole championship course on the property and he enlisted famed PGA player Hal Sutton to open the Hal Sutton Golf Academy at the Ranch.
His commitment to providing an exceptional hunting and golf experience has resulted in an unbelievable sporting experience.
